Introduction:
Dolli av Oddvarg are mated and will together with Q form
the base for Oddvarg I-Litter. I will in this article provide a description of
this to dogs, their background, pedigree and what I expect from this
combination. For those who don’t know, Dolli is the sister to Dacke, which is
the dog I compete with. Video of Dacke 18 months
Dolli was born in Norway and was sold to Dr. Wolfgang Tauber
in Austria. Spring 2009 I swap Dolli for a new puppi that wasn’t quite so
dominant. Dolli is a very firm lady, and not so easy to handle. Now she lives at
Berget 26, were also 2 males and 4 children lives. We have no problems with
Dollli and she is a favorite among the kids. But Dolli has also learned some new
rules after she returned to her motherland.
|
|
Q
is born in Japan and was sold to a cop in USA when he was 8 weeks old.
This combination was so good, that it was done 6 times. Q has therefore
got a lot of siblings. Q isn’t either an easy dog to train, and
eventually he was sold to Europe when the cop no longer could handle
him. Q has been breeding and
training in several countries before he came to Sweden.
Q comes from a litter with 100% healthy dogs, and
has also offspring were whole litter has been normal HD/ED.
Q is the last living
son from Orry Vom Haus Antverpa, who won Woldchampionship in 1992 with
handler Roger Snollarts and both FCI/WUSV Championship in 1996 with
handler Harou Masuda.

Mother of Dolli
Mother of Dolli is my
first breeding female, IPO/SchH III WUSV/FCI
Championship participant, winner of Norwegian Championship
Brandfjellets Bima. I bought Bima from breeder
Brandfjellet as a puppy and placed her in a home. They trained her in
1,5 year. After this I got her back and after a really intense period of
six weeks with training intensive in A-B-C, we did her IPO I in Trondheim
with 294 points.
Following winter was
Bima the mother of Oddvarg A - litter.
Bima
was as a puppy and a young dog, a really temperamental bitch with a lot
of play drive and also aggression. What made her so special was above
all her expectations for everything, but most of all obedience. She
could work through the whole program without me having to
pray her or give her the ball all the time.
|
|
||||||||||||||||||
|
She worked for me only on expectations. This is also the assets which
gave us 97 points in obedience in FCI championship 2005 and 96 points in
WUSV Championship the same year. I have never trained a dog with
better abilities for obedience
then Bima. In addition to being a participant in Wold Championship 4
times, Bima is also the mother of 4 Championships participants which
also is the winner of Norwegian Championships. Bima herself has won the
national Championship 3 times.
Bima has a sister named Barga.
Barga was a police dog in Østfold police district and her
specialty was tracking. Steadily,
she and her great skilled dog handler track criminals and this despite
the fact that training base between missions was modest. Thomas Stærk is
of the opinion that a search with a criminal at the end, provides a
better training and experience base than over 100 training tracks. Barga’s tracking characteristics are of course genetically, and then reinforced with good training methods. In addition her experience was a natural consequence of successfully tracking with founds. |
|||||||||||||||||||
| |
|||||||||||||||||||
|
I
can also mention that Barga’s father was the same. An unbelievable good
tracking dog, both in service and competition.
Their 3 brothers who all was police dogs in Sweden was the same.
This gene comes from the Arry Vom Schloss Zweibruggen-line. Arry is
father to among others: Hassemans Axxe, Hindens Imze and Hindens
Bronson. All very good tracking dogs who has proven that they inherited
this assets, from generation to generation. |

Bima’s father is Pema`s Esko
(Varg). Varg was my second dog, and the first dog ever in Norway who
started in IPO, and that was before this was an official program in
Norway. He was also the first
Norwegian participant in World Championship, which we were single
participant’s in. 1 participant, 1 team leader, 1 helper and 3
supporters. Varg competed in 3 championships, and he is the father of 3
other participants of Worldchampionship.
Varg’s father was Hinden's Bronzon . A big, powerful dog with a head like a polar bear. Bronzon competed in the Swedish protectionprogram, and was in this time probably Sweden’s most real and distinct dog in this program. Many good breeders used Bronzon as a stud. Among others the policeman MarMange gode oppdrettere brukte Bronzon i avl. Blant annet politimannen Martin Bergstrøm som er oppdretter pÃ¥ Varg.tin Bergström who is the breeder of Varg. I met Martin on a seminar in the beginning of the 90-th, that’s how Varg came to my possession. |
|||||||||||||||||||
| |
|||||||||||||||||||
| Father to Bronzon is the son of Fero; Arry Vom Schloss Zweibruggen who was imported to Sweden in 1989. Some breeders wanted to bring German schutz-blood into Sweden, and they chosed to import a son of one of Germans most used studs Fero Vom Zeutener Himmelreich. I met Arry when he was in quarantine, before he could be put into practice. The first time I saw Arry was on a seminar in Sweden in 1991. At an age of 1,5 months he impressed with his great capacities for protection work. A dog with great play drive, social fighting spirit and real aggression. |
|
||||||||||||||||||
|
Arry didn’t get many matings in
Sweden, but the few he got, he made deep impressions with. Both Bronzon,
Imze and Axxe has great stories told of them. In dogsport, in service
and in breeding.
Most famous is Hinden’s Imze who won SSM several times
and who has as best result in WUSV Championship nr. 4 year 2000. ![]() Hindens ImzeKORAD +3 TJH, BHP, IP3, SCHH3, WUSV Kkl 2 If you look at the golden years for the Swedish team, the comet start they got in WUSV Championship, all the good Swedish dogs relates back to Arry. Directly or in 2-3 generation. I am convinced that the import of Arry is the main contribution for the Swedish success in 1999-2003. The Swedish dogs, as well as the Norwegian dogs, were bred at completely other assumptions than the German, they didn’t have the full grip or the hardness which we know has to be there to get the high points in dog sport. The import of Arry changed all that. The rest is history. |

Como Von Rurdamm
in
Germany, trained in Belgium before he was sold to Sweden.
Como was trained in Belgium by
Bert Aerts
the World Champion in 1992, but with a Malinois. Already as a puppy Come
showed himself as a very strong dog. He was hard and got very high
social dominance. Not an easy dog to train, which is often common for
very good dogs.
On that time Bert train several other dogs, and after being qualified for FCI Championship in 2003 with one of them, he sold Como. Como came first to Netherland, and after a short time he came back to Belgium and Bert. . Link: Van de Berlex Hoeve |

The buyer found out that Como was to demanding for him, and chosed to
return Como, who was then sold to Sweden, were he lives today. Como is
the father of many litters, and in my kennel he is the father for C and
D litter. In the C litter, it’s especially Camaro and Cantona that
people has heard of. Both are very similar to Como and has one thing in
common, they can’t get the arm deep enough into the mouth. Neither can they
make the arm flat enough….
In dog sport its Dolli’s brother Dacke and half brother Aly who has the best results. Aly's best results in WUSV Championship is nr. 6 in 2007. Video of Dacke and half-brother Aly Gr C FCI WC 2008.
Dacke was the
winner of Norwegian IPO championship in 2009, no. 2 in 2008 and no. 3 in
championship for German Shepherds 2009, also no. 13 in FCI World
Championship in 2008. Merely an accident with the high jump prevented us
to get a top result.

A
lot of crap is said about Como. That he is too hard, too aggressive and
a lot more. But most of this nonsense is said by people who have never
seen Como and using every opportunity to speak nonsense about other
people’s dogs. Especially if this dog have done well in any context.
Something has to be wrong, and for Como is that he breeds dogs with
excellent mentality.
|
|||||||||||||||||||
|
One of the first who used Como in breeding was the policewoman
Marie-France Paolini, a breeder in Belgium,
Renadloup. Marie-France won the
Belgium championship in 1996 with the police dog
Rambo Vom Hause Welz.. As far as I
know, the only time that a police dog has won the championship for
Schutzhund. An amazing achievement for a woman who can combine
service with competition. Rambo was by the way in service until he was
11 years old. His brother Rocky is one of the few who has 100 points in
protection work at WUSV Championship, handled by Emiel Dilen. Marie used
Como in a combination with
Zaïre de Renaudloup after her dog
Rambo, and it was a very good litter. Bert Aerts had a dog after this
combination,
Derry de Renaudloup, which was sold to
Australia as an adult. Como breeds very good and people who have used
him know the different between a good and a bad dog. |
|
||||||||||||||||||
|
Como is altrough an open, honest and
social dog, this is characters he also breeds.
BUT strangers cannot approach him and try to pull his ears, or hurt him
in any way. This is also true for most of the Como offspring, so if you
want a dog who can be harmed by a stranger, don’t by a dog from me.

| Father of Como is the famous Amigo Vom Bracheler See. Amigo is Yoschy Vom Döllenweise’s most renowned son. A dog as his father who was in possession of enormous working capacity. Americans was early interested in Amigo, and he was sold for breeding and training. The last, mostly intended. | LGA,SCHH3,IPO3,FH G Amigo vom Bracheler See SZ 1925022 ![]() |

|
Amigo’s brother Aron is also the father of Oddvarg B litter. Aron was
more sensitive then Amigo, and has also sometimes bred this. Aron
participated in several big competitions and
many talked about his
tremendous capabilities. Unfortunately, he was in the competitive
context not always able to
show this. A lot of dirty talk has been said about Aaron and
mostly from ignorance. If one seriously wants to consider a dog's
mentality, you must also consider what the dog has been through, and
what kind of training experience the dog has. |

Amigo is a son of
Yoschy Vom Døllenweise.
This
is a line that always passes correct and hard grip. In addition Yoschy
was in possession of amazing qualities regarding courage, rigidity
and social fighting spirit. This
made Yoschy hard to administrate in protection work and I believe he
only got to compete once in BSP (The German Championship) were he was
disqualified due to lack of control. Just 50 points in protection work.
I
don’t believe Yoschy was uncontrollable or impossible to handle in any
way. It’s often the methods who get the results. Nothing just happens,
it happens for a reason. I have myself been disqualified due to lack of
control in my first World championship, and at that time I trained the
same way that they used to do in Germany.
The result shows whether
you've trained right.
Father to Yoschy is
Troll Von
Der Bøsen Nachbarchaft , Troll is Fero’s most
famous son. Troll was a legend regarding his working skills, and today
he can be found in many pedigrees of very good dogs worldwide. Troll
participated in many BSP and his best result was no. 22. It’s not always
the winners who gets the majority matings or the most attention, good
breeders often look for the dogs further down the result lists.
In addition to especially good qualities in protection work Troll was in the possession of another important feature. His expectations for obedience and his temperament. At the time we had German Shepherds who could do the whole program without getting the ball, toy, food etc. Such things are more and more rare today. The breeding for the perfect grip, controllable dogs have given us a weaker dog, which often cannot do the technical obedience without requests from the handler. When a dog has insufficient obedience the public tends to blame the handler, but it’s not so simple.
V
I am of the opinion that Malinois in general is better
sport dogs then German shepherd, especially in obedience. In all too
much, we see that our dogs has lost much of its original assumptions for
obedience. If you look at the video of Troll, who is nearly 20 years old
video, you can see an old dog which makes a lot of smaller errors. But
we can also see a dog that has the power, temperament and expectations
to make the program with wagering tale and correct attitude. If a dog
like that receive correction, it will adapt and do not creep around the
handler as many dogs of today does.
We
can discuss and criticize the performance of the dogs that time ago, but
not without consider the evaluation for the judge in obedience and
protection work 20-30 years ago. If you look at the video of Fero in
protection work on BSP 1987 it looks terrible. Video of Fero in protection work
But
do not judge this old dogs without first thinking about the training
methods for 25 years ago counter today, and also how the judges
evaluate.
It’s not comparable with today.
For many judges, it was immaterial how the dogs bite, as long as the
guarding was in order.
I want to preserve this abilities
that Troll was in possession of in obedience, and this is much of the
same qualities as his half-brother Arry has given. If you motivate this
kind of dogs to much with ball or biting roll you soon get blocking and
whining. Use of motivation on this kind of dogs must therefore be
strongly strict and moderate. That’s the reason why the results are good
provided that the dog is in the right home. Good results in dog sport is
based on three components: A good dog, a good handler and a system that
works.
Take one of the components away and you will fail.
Who is Q: As told earlier Q is born in Japan and a direct son of World champion 1992 Orry Von Haus Antwerpa.
Orry was sold to Japan after WC 1992 to Harou
Masuda, who won both FCI WC and WUSV WC with Orry in
1996. No other dog than Orry has
won 3 times.
Q ended up in Europe, where he was
traied and bred.
Q is not an easy dog to control in protection work, and
this he has common with many good breeding dogs.
This kind of dogs often breed better then they are themselfs.
Q
has performed between 30-50 bite with release/out during a training pass
in protection work, without getting the arm, and without degraded the
quality of the grip in any way. If you see the video of Q, you see a dog
that engages wholeheartedly with great pressure in all guarding and
attack phases.
I
am convinced that Q shall be mated with females with strong nerves, good
pray drive and big social fighting spirit.
Controllable and of social
skills. Therefore Dolli.
These to complement each other perfectly. If this mating is correct, it
will likely be the best combination so far.
Also regarding health Q has bred very well. Several litters has been
completely free for ED/HD. And my goal with this litter is to start the
process to improve the health on my breeding individuals. Oddvarg have
with the combinations I have made, achieved very good substance of
mentality in our dogs. The mentality we have – health will be next
target but at the same time the mental should not be compromised.
Conclusion:
All breeders have a desire to improve the breed. Which view we have, and
how this will be improved are very different. For those who have read
this article and who keeps up with
www.oddvarg.no knows that I am not pleased with the German Shepherds
development through the latest years, and the problems are man-made. All
the time that breeding requests to our understanding and not on
scientific principles much will depend on the eyes that sees and the
brain that understands.
Let me make a comparison: If a man hangs on the façade of the 5:th floor
on Oslo Plaza, he has a good view of what’s happening on the street
below him. If a crime should occur, this person could play an important
role as a whiteness. Especially in the hunt of the criminal. He will
have good overview, and if he also manages to interpret this and provide
valuable information to the proper authorities, his observations and
opinions will be very valuable. But he doesn’t have to be
smarter than you or me. He has just got a better view.
Breeding is about having a vision of how our dogs should be in a future
perspective. Good breeders have insight and overview of the breed and
individuals. If you in additional can identify and interpret what you
see in each individual, there are possibilities to select the breeding
stock for improving the next generation and generations to come.
Thanks for reading.
